1. I can’t seem to find the team that you support. Do you support a particular football team?
Yep, Coventry City. I think I used to have it as a title or something, but couldn’t be arsed this time. It only encourages mocking, and I’m too fragile for that.
2. Do you think the state of the game is in a healthy state, or are there areas that football could improve upon?
On a whole, yes. There are a number of areas of concern though, not least the financial aspects of lower clubs. The ITV digital deal hit many clubs hard, and I’d like to see some kind of system to prevent teams going into administration, be it salary/spending caps, or whatever it takes.
Another is the development of youth players. When you consider a country like say, Holland. They are a far smaller nation, but seem to consistently pump out quality youth players. I’d like to see the FA look at Ajax’s setup and make more effort to mirror the technique that children there learn from an early age.
3. What do you think would be the best drug policy?
Zero tolerance. Two year ban, like in other sports. Define rules to all; make it known that a missed test is the equivalent to being found positive – blanket rules involving harsh punishments should do the trick.
4. What was the most serious injury you ever suffered and how did you manage to do it?
I broke my left collar bone when I was like 10. me and my little brother (then 4/5) were on my parents bed, and I tried doing a backflip. I misjudged, missed the bed and landed on my head, coming down on my shoulder. Broke it instantly, and told my parents he pushed me off. To this day they think he did it.
5. You recently changed your username by dropping certain components of your past name, any particular reason for the change?
For some reason I had different variants on different boards, and when I recently reinstalled my machine (losing all the cookies) I had to log in again. I found having numerous different usernames was quite an oversight on my part at the time. Never again!
6. Will the Live 8 concert held recently make a huge difference in Africa?
I hope so. People seem to confuse the real intent. The G8 leaders are well aware of the problems, but now Joe Public is more aware, and of course the world leaders are only in power as long as the public allows. With the debt all but rescinded, it’s increased aid and fair trade that will get the ball rolling. There are corrupt governments in place still, but one step at a time. Throwing money at Africa is needless, as the continent has a lot of resources, be it diamonds, crops, or the willing workforce. They’ll get there in the end, I’m sure of it.
7. If you could purchase 5 items from the supermarket, what would they be and why?
Right now? A crate of beer and a big bag of skittles, some kind of reading material and music to accompany my SkittleBrau afternoon, oh, and anal itch cream
8. What is the ideal job for a person like yourself?
Is eccentric millionaire a job? I dunno; something involving not having to get up early, something creative even. As long as I’m interested in it, that’d do me. Unlike currently.....
